How to use Dream Addresses - Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Dream Addresses let you visit other players' islands in a dream state, allowing you to explore and see their designs without any risk. You can also upload your own island so others can visit it anytime, even when you're not playing. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about using Dream Addresses.
What are Dream Addresses?
Dream Addresses are permanent codes that let you share a snapshot of your island with the world. When you upload your island, Luna creates a dream version that captures your island exactly as it is at that moment. This snapshot stays the same until you update it, so visitors will always see your island exactly as you left it.
The best part about Dream Addresses is that they're completely safe. Visitors can explore your island, see your designs, and even talk to your villagers, but they can't pick up items, shake trees, or make any changes. Your island is protected, and you don't need to be online for others to visit your dream island.
How to upload your island
Uploading your island is simple and only takes a few minutes. Here's how to do it:
- Go to any bed in your house (or any bed on your island) and lie down. Select "I want to sleep..." when prompted.
- Luna will appear and ask if you want to share your dream. Select "Yes, please."
- Luna will upload your island to the dream world. This process takes a few moments. Once it's complete, you'll receive your Dream Address - a unique code that others can use to visit your island.
To update your Dream Address, simply repeat the process. Your new dream will replace the old one, but your Dream Address code will stay the same. This means you can keep sharing the same code even as your island evolves.
How to visit other islands
Visiting other players' islands through dreams is easy and fun. Here's how:
- Go to any bed in your house and lie down. Select "I want to sleep..." when prompted.
- Luna will appear and ask what you'd like to do. Select "I want to dream."
- Choose "Enter a Dream Address" and type in the Dream Address code you want to visit. You can find Dream Addresses in NookFriends' Dream Address section.
- You'll wake up on the island and can explore freely. When you're done, lie down on any bed and select "I want to wake up" to return to your own island.
What you can do in dreams
You can explore the entire island, including all areas, buildings, and outdoor spaces. Walk around, check out custom designs, see how the island is decorated, and admire the landscaping.
You can talk to all the villagers on the island. They'll have unique dialogue, and you can learn about their personalities and see how they interact with the island's design.
However, you cannot pick up items, shake trees, dig up flowers, or make any changes to the island. You also can't use tools like shovels or axes. This keeps the island safe and ensures that visitors can't accidentally (or intentionally) damage anything.
